About the event
Imbolc - the ancient Celtic celebration of the beginning of Spring. It is also the feast day of St. Brighid or, we go back a bit further, the Celtic goddess Bríd.
As nature is starting to awaken, let's take a walk and find out what is starting to sprout and what is possible to find in the wild.
We'll take approximately a two hour walk around Killiney Hill and review the wild and native vegetation. I'll provide information on the history, meaning and uses of the plants including medicinal properties. Halfway, we'll stop for a snack and a drink. The food and drink will contain foraged ingredients you can find at this time of year. This will give you a taste of what is available and hopefully ignite your imagination on how to bring these ingredients into your life!
Afterwards, I will provide you with an info sheet and recipes.
You will need appropriate clothing and footwear.
The walk is moderately accessible for most but is not suitable for anyone with an advanced disability.
By signing up for this event you are agreeing to take responsability for your own safety.
You will be given clear instructions and guidelines about the plants we see. However, what you decide to eat and the quantities are entirely your decision and responsibility.
Any reactions you may have to what is eaten are not the responsibility of the guide.
**The event may be cancelled due to bad weather or personal circumstance**
